The second-biggest city in Croatia, Split feels much more lived-in than Dubrovnik [because people actually live here]. Es muy bonita, less expensive, and less hot than Dubrovnik. I rented a car with another traveler I met in Dubrovnik, and we visited the Krka National Park, and the Skradinski Buk waterfall, where you can swim downstream from a lot of tourists’ pee!

Split and the harbor

The main tourist attraction in Split is Diocletian’s Palace — which like Dubrovnik — is a really old palace that is now inhabited completely by tourists.GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAThe Krka National Park was breathtaking; I only wish I had known that you could book boat tours up and down the huge lake that runs the length of the park. However, swimming and sunbathing and walking through the forest was really nice, and cooler than the city!Krka 1 So many tourists!GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERACan you see all the fish?!GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAFor scale of just how many people were there in the afternoon; it died down by 4pm, but this bridge was only about 10 feet wide…

And this crazy boat was parked in the harbor after we dropped off the rental car — it is 218 feet long and has 4,734 horsepower. What?!GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA
